As we know earlier, there were no much options for disappearing message in Whatsapp, whereas now it’s been a little tricky with an additional choice for the auto-destruction-after-reading messages. Mark Zuckerberg has announced a new feature which allows receiver to keep the disappearing message if the sender consent to it by long pressing the message to keep it.
Whatsapp states this option as a “Sender Superpower”. This feature gives the sender ultimate control of what the received can do with the disappearing messages.
The company has posted a blog post about this feature as it gives the sender the option to “veto” a receiver’s effort to save a message. If a message is being sent by you, then you should have the ultimate control over that message. There are many features that Whatsapp has rolled out and this new feature gives more control than ever on privacy part.
The same has been posted by Mark Zuckerberg in Facebook mentioning the new feature.
So, when a recipient wants to save a disappearing message, long pressing the message will show a ribbon icon on top, on pressing this will trigger a request to the sender for the consent to save or not to save the message. Therefore, the sender has the overall control on the message whether it should be saved or deleted as it is supposed to be as a disappearing message.
Messages that are saved will have a bookmark icon and will be available in kept message folder organized by chat. This feature will be rolling out in next few weeks globally.
