Whatsapp Spam calls identification
As part of a recent partnership, Truecaller has announced the launch of its caller identification service for WhatsApp. For those of you who don’t know, Truecaller is a service provider with Swiss roots that is well-known in India for its thorough Caller ID filtration and identifying methods.
Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi mentioned “Over the last two weeks, we have seen a spike in user reports from India about spam calls over WhatsApp,” emphasizing that internet calling by telemarketers was a relatively new development in the industry.
According to research by Truecaller in 2021, telemarketing and fraud calls are on the rise in nations like India, where users receive an average of 17 spam calls every month.
In February, the Indian Telecom regulator ordered companies like Jio and Airtel to begin using artificial intelligence filters to restrict telemarketing calls over their networks. According to Truecaller, it is in talks with telecom companies to provide a solution.
With 250 million users, India is Truecaller’s largest market. It has 350 million members worldwide and makes money from advertising, subscription services, and independently vetted business listings.
In India, WhatsApp is the most popular messaging service. According to the business, it uses spam detection technology to identify and deal with accounts behaving abnormally and offers consumers the ability to block and report problematic accounts.
According to Truecaller, the service, which is now in beta phase, will be made available to all users worldwide later in May.
